7 Fathers Day Gift Ideas for Outdoorsy Dads

1. Zippo Windproof Lighter

I don’t know what it is about men and staring at fires, some people see it as calming I think it has to do with primal instincts. Whatever the reason is this is the perfect gift for any fire starting purposes. It might be a good gift for a dad that enjoys cigars or a dad that likes to trek into the backcountry and camp. This can be bought for a reasonable price at REI, currently $24.95. The lighter does not come with the lighter fluid though so that would also need to be purchased.

2. Digital Meat Thermometer

A digital meat thermometer is a great gift for someone that enjoys cooking more than just burgers. This would be good for someone that has an interest in grilling or already does but just hasn’t wanted to spend the money on one of these thermometers yet. I was able to find the one in the link below for $49.99 from Bass Pro Shops. This could be a nice gift alone or even paired with some different types of sauces or seasonings.

3. Sun Protection Shirt

A sun protection shirt is a lightweight long sleeve shirt meant to be worn to protect against UV rays. This is a good all around gift that could be given to anyone. There are many different color options to choose from. The link below is from Amazon and the shirts are $19.99. Other sporting goods do carry these types of shirts for a higher price if you wanted to spend a bit more.

4. Running Belt

A running belt is used to store things like your phone, keys, gels, and any other running fuel you want to bring along. I carried my phone and keys in my hand the entirety of my first half marathon and after a few comments I started to notice that I was the only one doing that. There were some runners wearing running vests but the vast majority was wearing a running belt. Not focusing on the position of keys and a phone in your hands is a subtle but noticeable difference in comfort during runs. The running belt I’ve heard about the most is a flipbelt. There are a few different types of flipbelts but the ones I’ve seen are around $40. They can be found most places that sell running gear. The link below is REI.

5. Mystery Tackle Box

The mystery tackle box is exactly what you’d think it is. The lures inside are a surprise so it takes the pressure off of feeling like you aren’t picking the right lures for your gift. With the warm weather it is now time for bass season so this is a great time to get one of these boxes as a gift. There are different size mystery boxes and they can be found at Dick’s Sporting goods. The link below is for the smallest size which is $19.99.

6. Outdoor Folding Chair

You can’t go wrong with a camping chair. Spending a bit more on one of these chairs allows you to get something that is more durable and more comfortable for longer periods of time. The chair I linked below is the chair that I saw the most at my younger sisters softball game. This is a $70 chair from Cabelas.

7. Goodr Sunglasses

These sunglasses are tested to not slip or bounce so they can be used for every outdoor activity. They are very affordable. I have a lot of friends that wear these while they play sand volleyball and I’ve worn mine running and they do live up to the test. The sunglasses are currently on sale but they go for a regular price of $30.
